Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at St. Lawrence Church - St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be Dave Ramsey and Jim Mohr. Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur as pianist and Kathleen Macke as cantor. Gift bearers will be Rick's four children: Haley, Nicole, Kyle, and Kurtis. Eucharistic minister will be Cherrie Mohr. Mass servers will be Tyler Mohr and Cal Heydon. Casket bearers will be Craig Hacker, Jerry Croghan, Chris Langel, Owen Croghan, Randy Sturm, and Todd Gruhn. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll from 5 - 7 P.M. on Sunday evening. Visitation without greeting the family will continue at St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 A.M. - 10:15 A.M. on Monday prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Rick's name for a later designation and may be left with the funeral home or at the church.

Rick was born on July 6, 1963, in Carroll, Iowa, and he was the son of Dennis and Joan (Kloewer) Ramsey. He grew up in Manning where he graduated from high school in 1982. He attended Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon where earned a degree in Plumbing. Rick was married to Lisa Dorpinghaus in 1987 and to this union a daughter Haley was born. He worked for Drees Plumbing for several years. He then worked for Farmers Cooperative in Bayard before going to work at Pella where he has been employed for the past 25 years. Rick later remarried to Jerilyn Davis on August 1, 1998, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Rick enjoyed coaching his kid's sports teams, camping, cooking, and grilling out. He was the MVP of his family and was looked up to by many of his children's friends.

Rick is survived by his wife Jeri Ramsey of Carroll; his mother Joan Ramsey of Manning; his children and their families: Haley Ramsey (fiancé Mike Gardner) of Madrid, Nicole Becker (Patrick Sharpshair) of Elkhart, Kyle Ramsey of Urbandale, Kurtis Ramsey of Ames; five sisters: Lori Esdohr (Jon) of Coon Rapids; Cherrie Mohr (Jim) of Coon Rapids; Chris Wiese (Roger) of Manning; Vicki Ramsey of Carroll; and Michelle Spack (Jay) of Guthrie Center; four brothers: Dave Ramsey (Carol) Templeton, Iowa; Dani Ramsey (fiancée Kacee Kuhns) of Manning, Iowa; Roni Ramsey (Kayla) of Edgewood, Iowa; and Eric Ramsey (Jodi) of Manning, Iowa; his father and mother-in-law John and Sharyl Davis of Carroll; a sister-in-law Deb Davis (Greg) of Johnston; two brothers-in-law Dan Davis (Stephanie) of Urbandale, and Tony Davis (Suzie) of Urbandale; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and cousins.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Dennis Ramsey in 2021.

Edward and Dolores Ramsey

Edward "Ed" Hamford Ramsey was born to Charles H. and Bessie (Johnson) Ramsey. Ed married Dolores "De" Emily Ohm, daughter of Harry J. and Betty (Riemers) Ohm. Ed and De had two sons, Leonard and Dennis.

Leonard Edward married Marlene Horbach. They had six children: Mary Jo, Douglas, Sandy, Gwen, Dana and Jon E. (deceased).

Dennis married Joan Kloewer. They had ten children: Lori, Cherrie, Christine, David, Richard, Daniel, Ronald, Vicki, Eric, and Michelle.

Ed and De lived in Manilla for nine years after they were first married. Then they moved to Manning and Ed started trucking for himself. In 1947 he went into partnership with his father, Charles Ramsey and brother, Mayburn Ramsey in a trucking business. After Charles retired, Ed and Mayburn continued the business of Ramsey Transfer. Ed bought Mayburn out and Ed continued the trucking business until 1973 when he sold the business to James Ramsey (Mayburn's son). Edward died in November 1998.

De worked as a bookkeeper for eleven years. In 1965 she went to work as a bookkeeper for the Manning Plaza until her retirement in 1976. De resides at the Manning Plaza at this time. She celebrated her 90th birthday August 12, 2004, with her many friends and family.

Dennis Ohm Ramsey was born to Edward H. Ramsey and Dolores (Ohm) Ramsey on December 27, 1937. He married Joan Marie Kloewer, daughter of Vincent and Ruby (Ewoldt) Kloewer on October 3, 1957. They lived all their married life in the Manning area, except for one year. That year was spent on a farm near Jefferson, Iowa. Dennis farmed for Bill Opperman until 1981. He then went to work for AGP in Manning, working for them until his retirement January 2003. Joan was a stay at home mom until 1985. She then went to work part-time as housekeeper for Ohde Funeral Home of Manning, where she is still currently employed.

To this union ten children were born. All ten graduated from Manning High School.

Lori Sue married Jon Esdohr and they live in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Lori works for Dr. Martin Halbur DDS of Carroll, Iowa and Jon works for the city of Coon Rapids. They have six children: Jamie has one son, Ethan and they live in Maryville, Missouri; Jeanna, her husband Roger Clayburg and son, Lance, live in Coon Rapids, Iowa; Jennifer and her husband Armand Assadi live in St. Charles Missouri. Jennifer has one son Gabriel Grote and together they have one daughter Leila Assadi; Jessica is a student at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville Missouri; Jill is a student at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa; and Jacob is a student at Coon Rapids Bayard School.

Cherrie Lynn married James Mohr, formally of Manning, lives in Coon Rapids. Cherrie and Jim have their own construction company, Mohr Construction. They have five children: Ryan of Polk City, Iowa; Christopher, his wife Karen (Eddy), and daughter Madison of Coon Rapids; Justin of Coon Rapids; Adam, a student at DMACC, lives in Ames, Iowa; and Megan, a student at Coon Rapids Bayard High School.

Christine Marie married Roger Wiese and they live in Manning. Roger jointly owns a construction company, J&R Construction, and Christine works in the business office at Manning Regional Healthcare Center.

David Dennis married Carol Espenhover. They live in Templeton, Iowa. David manages Carroll County Feed out of Templeton. David has one son, Aaron and one daughter, Amber of Boone, Iowa. Carol has three children: Michelle Heinrichs and her husband Dave Moline have one daughter Madelyn; Michael Heinrichs and his wife Lizzy have a son Nathan; and Molly Heinrichs. Together David and Carol have one daughter Brooke who is a student at Manning High School.

Richard Allen, born July 6, 1963 married Jeri (Davis). They live in Carroll, Iowa. Richard works for Pella Industries and Jeri is a hospice nurse. Richard has one daughter, Haley of Johnston, Iowa. Jeri has one daughter, Nicole Becker and together they have two sons Kyle and Kurtis.

Daniel Edward married Sandi (Broad) and they live in Manning. Daniel is a driver for Quest Auto Parts and Sandi owns her own nursing association, Iowa Nursing Staff. They have four children, Natalie, Nathan, Brittany and Brandon; all students at Manning Community School.

Ronald Lee married Kayla (Joens) and they live in Edgewood, Iowa. Ronald farms with his father-in-law and Kayla is a grade school science teacher in Edgewood. They have twin daughters, Abby and Bailey.

Vicki Sue lives in D'Iberville, Mississippi. She works at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi. Vicki has one daughter, Taylor Ramsey.

Eric James married Jodi (Riggert) and they live in Bondurant, Iowa. Eric works for Jeld-Wen Millwork in Des Moines, Iowa and Jodi works for a home health service as an occupational therapist. They have twin sons, Luke and Nolan.

Michelle Marie married Jalen Spack and they live in Guthrie Center, Iowa. Michelle is a stay at home mom and Jalen is a lineman for Guthrie County REC. They have two sons, Quenton and Alex.

Dennis and Joan are members of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. Dennis is a member of the M&M Country Club golf course.
