Visitation is from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial is at 10:30 am on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.

Eileen M., daughter of John Anton and Carmelita (Schulte) Riesberg, was born September 13, 1934, in Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa. She grew up in Halbur and attended school at St. Augustine's through the eighth grade and graduated from St. Angela's Academy in Carroll. Eileen then clerked at a grocery store in Halbur.

On January 8, 1955, Eileen was united in marriage with Leander Halbur at St. Augustine's Church in Halbur. Six children were born to this union. Eileen and Leander farmed in the Halbur area until 1967 when they moved to a farm they had purchased southwest of Manning. They farmed there until 1989 when they moved into Manning. Leander passed away in 1998. Eileen was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Altar Society and the MRHC Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters and worked part time at the flower shop and the pharmacy.

On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, Eileen died at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa. She was 88 years, 4 months, and 4 days of age.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leander Halbur; son Scott Halbur; siblings: Harold Riesberg, Marian Goodknight, Lois Van Cleave, and Joni Plant.

She is survived by her children: Susan (Dan) DeGard of Indianola; Ken (Pat) Halbur of Geneva, Nebraska; Terry (JoAnne) Halbur of Prescott, Arizona; Kristy (Kent) Hugeback of Manning; Carla (Craig) Hacker of Manning; daughter-in-law Darlys Halbur of Carroll; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Lorraine Schieffer of Overland Park, Kansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
