Diane Alma (Klocke) Kauten
With very heavy hearts, Diane’s family grieves her death. Diane passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023, at the age of 78. In recent years, Diane courageously lived with Parkinson’s Disease. She died of pancreatic cancer complications in the comfort of her Omaha, Nebraska, home; lovingly cared for by her husband, Wayne, and their four children: Randy, Rick, Rod, and Rhonda.

Diane was born to Albert and Alvina Klocke of Manning, Iowa, on June 26, 1944. She grew up and worked on the family farm while attending Washington No. 5 country school, then she attended Manning High School, graduating with the class of 1962.

Diane married Wayne H. Kauten of Oelwein, Iowa, October 24, 1964, in Sacred Heart Church, Manning, Iowa. All their married life, Diane and Wayne lived in Omaha, where they were active members of St. Gerald Catholic Church. Diane was a valuable employee of Phillips Medical for many years. During their retirement years, Diane and Wayne enjoyed traveling. Family visits to France and Texas and an Alaskan Cruise were among their traveling highlights.

Diane was a caring, kind, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; and, a loyal friend, as well. She was known for her strong moral sense, intelligence, wit, poise, perceptive ability, sensitivity, and organizational skills. Her concise metaphorical expressions were right on. She spoke of her imminent death as "going through the door." She had a special love for children and bonded closely with the extended families.

Diane is survived by: Her husband of 58 years, Wayne. Her four children: Randy (Nathalie) Kauten of Les Rousses, France; Rick (Kellie) Kauten of Frisco, Texas; Rod Kauten of Omaha; and Rhonda (Nathan) Duff of Leander, Texas. Her seven grandchildren: Victoria and Josephine Kauten; Rebecca, Morgan, and Clayton Kauten; Khloe and Kaylee Duff. Her three siblings: Joleen (Milan) Heath of Enterprise, Oregon; Larry (Linda) Klocke of Manning; and Karen Cunningham of Omaha; along with many nieces and nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alvina (Grossman) Klocke and brother-in-law, Ray Cunningham; along with her grandparents, uncles, aunts, and several cousins.

Diane’s family is so grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and other support over the course of her fatal illness and during this very sad time of their loss. They are especially grateful to the Omaha Methodist Hospital Staff, the Echo Hills Assisted Living Staff, and the AseraCare Hospice Staff.

VISITATION: Wednesday, April 19th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, April 20th at 10am at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9602 “Q” Street, Omaha, Nebraska. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions in Diane’s Memory may be made to the following: Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organization; American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
