Another reason why I need to go through Manning family scrapbooks is because I'll find pictures of non-family members which will just get thrown away someday since there is no family connection...assuming the whole scrapbook isn't simply tossed.
I was ecstatic when I saw this next picture in Colene's collection.
Around 24 years ago, Gaillard Frank found my web page and sent me an e-mail.
We both quickly hit it off with our love of and interest in Manning area history.
Gaillard sent me bits and pieces of memories he had and a few pix he had which weren't very many.
Anyway, we kept in contact until his passing in 2014.
I never had the honor to meet him in person, but through our messages I feel I knew him as if I had grown up with him...he was that
type of person.
Actually, a lot of the older folks I worked with remotely by e-mail I had never met and then they passed away...so sad to not be able to meet so many
amazing former Manningites who made this community what it is today.

I think this once was a Silver Maple tree and based on the size of the stump it was
probably planted 60 years earlier - let's say 1890s time-frame.

Hopefully someone can confirm one way or the other of this room in the old high school.
