show and coffee party in the grade building Thursday afternoon.
The girls modeled garments they had made during the year, under the direction
of Christine Sanders, instructor. Many styles were included in those shown.
There were dresses, skirts, blouses and sports outfits. Fully gathered and
circular skirts were particularly popular.
Girls who participated in the show were Donna Ahrendsen, Judy Atkins, Carol Beck,
Leone Bosche, Barbara Bruck, Marilyn Brus, Beth Eckholdt, Dorothy Fink, Frances
Grimm, Linda Handlos, Joan Heithoff, Sandra Johnson, Karen Knueven, Patricia
Knobbe, Carol Kuhl, Patricia Mathiesen, Nancy Mohr, Betsy Musfeldt, Pearl
Peters, Mary Reinke, Faith Sander, Joyce Sonksen, Marilyn Vennink and Nancy Young.
Judy gave me a number of items and pictures to scan over the years and in 2007, I scanned this diploma of Russell Atkins, uncle to Judy.
Russell & his parents, Oscar, Sr. and Carrie (Peasley) Atkins lived in the current home of John Altenhein and also in a home on Third Street.
