Clarence was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during WWI from June 2, 1918 to March 3, 1919.


Clarence Scanlan Dies in Denver At VA Hospital
Clarence Edward Scanlan, 67, of 1811 6th Street Road, died Thursday morning, March 30, 1964, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Denver where he had been a patient four weeks. He had been in poor health the past five years.

Clarence Scanlan was born October 13, 1896, at Elkhart, Illinois. The family resided in Manning, Iowa, from the late 1920s through the early 1940s, before moving to Hastings, Nebraska, and then they moved to Greeley, Colorado, in 1953 where he worked for Ellis and Capp Equipment Company 10 years. He retired about a year ago.

Scanlan was a Veteran of World War I and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

He and Garnet Keenan were married April 12, 1921, at Varina, Iowa, and she survives.

Other survivors are two sons, Don J. Scanlan at home and John R. Scanlan of Arvada; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Anderson of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur McCarlan of Havelock, Iowa, Mrs. Florence Kenney of Redwood Falls, Minnesota; and Mrs. Mae Schell of Fort Dodge, Iowa; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday from the Macy-Allnutt Drawing Room with requiem mass celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday from St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley, Colorado.
