Mr. Fonken was a retired bus driver and custodian. He attended the Kelso First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Order of Vasa 269, Veterans of Foreign Wars, World War II Barracks, and Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife, Luella Fonken, at home; a daughter, Jackie Robbins of Kent; two sons, Lancelot Fonken of Redmond, Washington; and Roger Fonken of Richmond, California; two step-daughters, Vernice Porter of Mitchell, South Dakota; and Dorothy Meyers of Kelso; a step-son, Francis L. Brown of Chula Vista, California; two brothers, August Fonken of Vancouver, Washington; and William Fonken of Willow Lake, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at McVicker's Chapel on the Hill with the Rev. J.J. Redmill officiating. Private family interment will be at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens, Kelso, Washington.
