Mass of Christian burial for E.B. Zerwas was held Wednesday, August 4, 1982, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Milford, Iowa with Father James Fandel officiating.
Casketbearers were: Larry Snyder, Kenneth Snyder, David Snyder, John Derner, Tim Derner and Pat Derner, with interment in Calvary Cemetery, Milford: The Knights of Columbus Rosary was prayed Tuesday evening at 7:30, followed by the Parish Rosary at 8:00.
Laura Cook and Delores Schwaller were in charge of flowers.
Leyson Funeral Home in Milford were in charge of arrangements.
Eugene B. Zerwas was born to Phillip & Agnes Zerwas at Manning, Iowa September 11, 1905. He attended school at Manning graduating with the class of 1924. He was united in marriage to Zita Derner February 10, 1934, at St. Peter's Church in Chicago, Illinois, and to this union five children were born: Phyllis Snyder, Phillip Zerwas, Anna Gentry, Lois Bandow and Michael Zerwas.
After serving four years in the U.S. Navy is a Pharmacist's Mate, he attended the Worsham College of Embalming in Chicago, graduating in 1932. He was a funeral director in Chicago and Burlington, Iowa until 1943. At that time he returned to Manning to become manager of the Manning Telephone Company.
He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and was baptized on October 8, 1905,
at Sacred Heart Church, Manilla, Iowa.
His hobbies included fishing, woodworking and travel.
He passed away August 1, 1982 at his home on Lake Okoboji.
He is survived by his wife, Zita, of Milford; children: Phillip of Torrington, Wyoming, and son Michael of Portland, Oregon; daughters: Phyllis Snyder of Carroll, Iowa; Anna Gentry of Port Angeles, Washington; Lois Bandow, Manning, Iowa; 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; brothers: LeRoy of Westside, Francis of Manning; sisters, Sister Agnese ES.P.A. and Sister Mary Philip E.S.P.A of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert, and one infant granddaughter, Jo Ann.
