HENRY P. MUNDT

Funeral services for Henry Mundt were held Wednesday, July 23, 1980, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Pastor Louis H. Miller of the Calvary Baptist Church officiated.

Vocalist was Georgia Lohrmann, and organist was Dorothy Kusel.

Interment was in Manning Cemetery with Dallas Lile, Frank Macumber, Chris Rasmussen, Bob McLaren, Ray Jorgensen and Donald "Tiny" Blom as casketbearers.

Military honors were by American Legion Post 22 and V.F.W. Post 3517.

Henry, son of Henry P. and Mary Hansen Mundt, was born on May 17, 1903, near Manning, Carroll County, Iowa. He attended country schools in the area.

Henry served as an airplane mechanic with the United States Armed Services during 1943 and 1944.
Upon returning from the service, he operated a trucking firm in the Manilla area and in the late 1960s worked for the light plant in Manilla. He retired when the light plant closed.
Henry was a member of the American Legion in Manilla for many years.

On Thursday, July 17, he entered Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, and on the following Sunday he was transferred to Veterans' Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, where he died on Monday, July 21, 1980, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 4 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Catherine, Annie, Milda, and Mary who died in infancy.

Henry is survived by two brothers, August Mundt and Louis Mundt, both of Manning; nine nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.


Henry Mundt is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
