Edmund McGinn was the first commander for Manning's VFW, but there were no pictures of him as commander and nothing left for information to determine who he was.
At first the first block of information found below appeared to be about Ed above, but then further information has been found on the Internet and there is NO connection to Manning that I can see.
Hopefully someone will come along to help us with who "our" Edmund McGinn was...


Edmund McGinn Joins Law Firm
The law firm of McGinn and McGinn, 22 S. Main Street, announces the appointment of Edmund A. McGinn, 24, 434 Glen Avenue, to the staff effective Monday. The firm is owned and operated by Albert and Kathleen McGinn, parents of Edmund.
A graduate of Creighton University Law School, McGinn is a Veteran of two years’ service with the US Navy. He was admitted to the Iowa bar October 16.

McGinn attended St. Peter Grade School and St. Francis High School, graduating in 1945. He served in the United States Navy for two years.

Upon his return he attended Creighton University and Creighton University School of Law. He graduated in 1952 and that same year was admitted to the Iowa Bar, Nebraska Bar and the U.S. Federal District Courts in both states.

After graduation he joined McGinn & McGinn, the law firm his parents founded. He was a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Iowa Trial Lawyers Association, Iowa-Nebraska State Bar Association and various local and regional bar associations. He chaired and served on many state and local boards, including: Council Bluffs Human Relations Commissions, Mercy Hospital Advisory Board, City Council, Creighton University Alumni, Prison Rehabilitation Services, Lawyers Helping Lawyers, National College for DUI Defense, Belli Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Patrick Parish Council, and Knights of Columbus.

He also served as the co-founder and president of the St. Albert Educational Foundation and the St. Albert Advisory and Consulters Board. He co-chaired the St. Albert Anniversary Celebration and St. Albert Science and Technology Center opening. He received multiple honors, including: Four-State Exemplary Community Service Award, Human Rights Award, Iowa Assn. of the Deaf Outstanding Service Award, St. Albert Hall of Recognition Award and Mercy Hospital Heritage Award. McGinn was a guest lecturer at State Bar Conventions of Arkansas, California, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon and Toronto, Canada. He also had articles published in various State Bar Magazines. Ed's dedication to his faith and family, commitment to our country and love for the law shows a life well lived and a profession well served.
