People will see in my requests about getting high resolution scans from original photos all of the time.
It may seem insignificant to most but
someday future generations and historians will wish that more people would have made the high resolution scans from original photos.
If I were to increase the viewable size of this image the graininess would really show up.
So, please always send me original photos to scan, or make high resolution scans of originals if you wish to do it yourself.
The Manning Veterans' history book will feature over 1000 Manning area Veterans, with years (even decades) of work on this project, and thousands of dollars will have to be raised
to get it published - so we want the best possible digital imagery used as we can get!

Ray Schultz, age 89, of Post Falls went home to be with his Lord while surrounded by family, Saturday, August 30, 2008, following a brief struggle with lung cancer. He was born September 23, 1918, in Tama, Iowa, to William and Emma (Kautz) Schultz. His birth mother died when he was 5 years old. His father remarried Elsie Johns, who was like a mother to him until the age of 16 when he moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, with his sister Ada and husband George. From Idaho he went to Montana and worked on a ranch, living a life-long dream of being a cowboy.
Enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1941 he was stationed on the Aleutian Island of Kiska during the invasion of the Japanese of the Aleutian Islands. He was an instructor and served as top turret gunner on a B25 Bomber. He was honorably discharged in November 1945 at the rank of Staff Sargent.
He married Erna Porsch of Manning, Iowa, the sister of an Army buddy, on May 12, 1943, in Sacramento, California. Following his discharge from the Army in 1945 he built and operated an electrical business in the hometown of his wife. Bringing his wife and three children to Rathdrum, Idaho, in 1949 he was well known as an avid outdoorsman hunting and fishing every spare moment. Ray worked as an electrician for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Co. for 30 years while running Schultz Electric in Rathdrum. Ray was a long time member of the Rathdrum Lions Club. Following retirement from Kaiser in 1981, Ray and Erna moved to their new home on Upper Twin Lakes where they raised a large garden and a small orchard, sharing fresh vegetables, flowers and fruit with his family and neighbors. In retirement Ray enjoyed fishing the lakes and reservoirs of North Idaho and Montana with his wife and family. In 2001 Ray and Erna moved to Post Falls where Ray spent his last years plowing snow for widowed neighbors and helping in any way he could.
Ray always cherished visits from family and friends and enjoyed many family gatherings with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife of 65 years, Erna, one daughter, Twyla and her husband Larry Mitson of Ephrata, Washington, and 2 sons; Darwin and his wife Lynda of Spokane, Washington, and Rev. Myles and his wife Sharon of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by 1 sister; Ada Rigby, 3 brothers; Ralph, Henry, and Russell; 2 nephews and 1 great-great granddaughter.
