Manning Monitor September 23, 2004 Funeral Service for Robert 'Bob' Waterbury, 65 of Boone, Iowa, formerly of Manning, were held Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone with Military Honors. Robert, son of Henry and Edna (Grage) Waterbury, was born in Iowa City on April 22, 1939. He graduated from Manilla High School in 1957 and on July 11, 1959 he married Betty Hoffman of Manning. Bob was a career serviceman serving with the United States, Navy from 1958 to 1976 and was discharged as a Yeoman Chief. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He and his wife Betty owned and operated the Anchor Lounge in Boone from 1977 to 1983. From 1983 to 1997, he was State Adjutant Quartermaster for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired in 1997. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, baseball. and collecting eagle figurines. Robert died at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa on September 16, 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in May of 2004, four brothers, and one sister. Survivors include one son; Michael Waterbury and fiancee Ann of New Munich, Minnesota; four daughters: Monica Wulff and husband Martin and Michele Waterbury all of Gig Harbor, Washington, Melissa Coghlan and husband Dave, and Maria Anderson and husband Jack all of Boone; five grandchildren Ashley Kuil, Courtney Waterbury, Dominique and Christopher Wulff, and Alex Abbott; one great-grandson Tyson Kull; one brother: Cliff Waterbury and wife Vicky of Manning; two sisters: Helen Higgins and husband Bernie of Belle Plaines and Candy Stobbe and her husband Jurgen of Manilla; two sisters-in-law Bonnie Waterbury of Manning and Garnie |
