My dad says that he remembers that our family was one of the original emigrant families that settled Manning, Iowa. I'm trying to trace his great great grandfather. My dad's dad was John Flenker and his father was "Gus" Flenker who had a brother Emil. Both moved to Kansas City from Council Bluffs where they both died back in the 60s.

"Gus" was the son of a Flenker that we do not have the first name of but may be a relation of Heinrich Flenker. All we know is he probably was born in Manning. So we know that "Gus" was his son. We know that the missing Flenker was mean to his son "Gus" who later ran away from home at 14 to come to Kansas City, Kansas around the early 1900s. The missing decendent was probably born between 1850 and 1870. I guess "Gus" was so mad at him he never told anyone his name.

If you can help in anyway, or be able to provide information on the Flenkers that emigrated to Manning it would be appreciated.
